Dag-nabbit. I got my times mixed and my dates wrong – this should have been up 12 hours ago as that was when Sunday started happening in the world. My apologies to the Marshal Islands. Here goes:

Today’s Sunday Book Swoop is a crisp, tasty paperback of Will Elliot’s ‘Pilgrims’.

untitled

That is very nearly the view from my front door.

Here’s a couple of reasons why you should give this one a go:

“the book’s charm lies in the interplay between its mundane Aussie protagonists and the surreal, vividly imagined alternate reality.” – The Guardian

“Elliott has a fine instinct for impending doom, claustrophobic helplessness and breathtaking twists of action” - The Australian

“Inventive, scary and darkly humorous” – The Observer

If for some bizarre reason you remain unconvinced – here’s a link to Goodreads.

Here’s what you do:

2) Leave a comment. This time I want to know about quests. Which is your favourite quest? Any and all genres encouraged.
3) Include your email.
4) Results announced on Monday.

The quest to take back the Orb of Aldur. It was the first epic fantasy series I read as a child, because my parents told me I couldn’t.

Well, I have to say I rather preferred King’s Quest myself. But I think Frodo & Co’s quest to destroy that blasted ring has to be my favourite. Beats out a number of other quests that came to mind.
